Perfume Product Photography for The Fragrance World

Creative and E-commerce Photography for a UK Fragrance Brand

The Fragrance World commissioned a complete perfume product photography package to present its updated bottle and packaging designs across the online store. The project combined consistent e-commerce photography for a large fragrance catalogue with creative product images designed for the website, social media and digital campaigns.

Project Overview

This project involved producing a comprehensive visual library that would support both the functional needs of an e-commerce catalogue and the brand’s wider marketing communication. By combining structured product photography with a selection of creative images, the aim was to deliver a cohesive set of visuals that could be used consistently across multiple platforms while reinforcing the brand’s identity.

The Challenge

The Fragrance World needed a new image library for 72 fragrances.

The main challenge was maintaining visual consistency across a large and varied collection. Every bottle had to be photographed accurately, with labels, colours, reflective caps and glass details clearly visible across the online catalogue.

At the same time, the brand needed more than functional product listings. Fragrance is closely connected to mood and personal identity, so a smaller collection of creative photographs was required to give the products atmosphere and provide more expressive content for website banners, social media and promotional campaigns.

Project Objectives

The project focused on three goals:

  1. Photograph all 72 fragrances consistently in two bottle formats.

  2. Create e-commerce-ready images presenting the updated packaging clearly.

  3. Produce creative perfume photography for website, social media and marketing use.

Photography Strategy

Creating a Consistent Product Catalogue

Consistency was essential when photographing such a large collection.

Lighting, bottle position, camera angle and image proportions were carefully controlled so that every fragrance could be presented as part of one cohesive online catalogue.

Glass bottles and reflective caps required precise lighting to define their shape without introducing distracting reflections. Labels, fragrance colours and packaging details also needed to remain clear and easy to recognise at smaller e-commerce image sizes.

The result was a structured image library that made it easier for customers to browse and compare products across the collection.

Combining Accuracy With Visual Appeal

Catalogue photography needs to be informative, but it should still make the product feel desirable.

The images were kept clean and polished while preserving the transparency of the glass, the colour of the liquid and the distinctive details of each bottle. Professional retouching helped remove unwanted marks and reflections without making the products appear artificial.

This balance allowed the photographs to meet practical e-commerce requirements while maintaining the refined presentation expected from a perfume brand.

Creating Atmosphere Around the Fragrances

A smaller collection of creative product images was produced alongside the catalogue photography.

Natural surfaces, organic props and compositions built from groups of perfume bottles introduced texture and visual rhythm while keeping the products central to each scene. These images gave the brand more expressive content for social media and promotional placements.

Rather than attempting to illustrate one specific scent note, the creative direction focused on freshness, natural accents and a cohesive atmosphere that could represent the wider collection.

The Solution

The final photography package included:

  • 144 catalogue images covering 72 fragrances in two bottle formats.

  • Consistent front-facing product photographs for the online store.

  • Accurate representation of labels, bottle colours and packaging details.

  • Six creative perfume compositions for promotional use.

  • Images prepared for website, e-commerce and social media formats.

  • A cohesive visual style connecting practical product listings with brand communication.

By planning the catalogue and creative photography together, The Fragrance World received one coordinated content library rather than separate sets of disconnected images.

Results

The Project Outcome

The completed image library provided the brand with a consistent way to present its updated packaging across a large online catalogue.

Clean product photography supported clear navigation and product comparison, while the creative images added variety to the website and social media communication. The final assets could be used across product pages, promotional banners and ongoing digital content without losing visual consistency.

The photography therefore served two different commercial purposes: helping customers evaluate products online and strengthening the overall presentation of the fragrance brand.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • 01
What images does a perfume brand need for e-commerce?

Most perfume brands benefit from a clear main product image, alternative bottle views, packaging photographs and close-up details. Creative images can then be added for website banners, advertising and social media.

  • 02
Can catalogue and creative perfume photography be produced during one project?

Yes. Producing both image types together helps maintain consistent lighting, colours and visual direction while creating content for several commercial channels.

  • 03
Why is perfume bottle photography challenging?

Perfume bottles often combine transparent glass, reflective caps, coloured liquid and small printed labels. Controlled lighting and detailed retouching are required to keep these elements clear without distracting reflections.

  • 04
Can you photograph a large fragrance collection consistently?

Yes. Large catalogues are approached as structured productions, with agreed framing, lighting and product positioning applied throughout the collection. This creates a more professional and consistent online store.

  • 05
Can the same photographs be used on websites and online marketplaces?

Images can be delivered in different dimensions and crops for the brand’s website, marketplace listings, social media and digital advertising. Platform requirements should be discussed before production begins.

  • 06
Do you also photograph perfume boxes and packaging?

Yes. The project can include bottles, boxes, discovery sets, gift packaging and complete product combinations. Packaging photography is particularly useful when the presentation or unboxing experience is part of the brand offer.

Planning Photography for a Fragrance Collection?

Perfume photography must show both product details and brand atmosphere. Customers need to clearly see the bottle, size and packaging, while creative images help build a mood around the fragrance. Combining e-commerce and creative photography achieves both. Whether launching new packaging or updating a catalogue, strategic photography ensures a consistent visual presence across product pages and campaigns.
